World Art Dubai (WAD), the largest contemporary art fair in the region, is gearing up for its 10th edition at the Dubai World Trade Center from May 2nd to May 5th, 2024. In partnership with Dubai Culture, this year’s event promises to be the most ambitious edition yet, showcasing the evolution of art over the past decade and making art more accessible to a wider audience.
With the Dubai Creative Economy Strategy aiming to double the contribution of the creative industries to the emirate’s GDP by 2026, World Art Dubai plays a vital role in achieving this goal. With over 300 artists and galleries from Dubai and around the world, the exhibition showcases a diverse range of artwork, including sculpture, watercolors, digital art, and fashion pieces.
More than just an art fair, World Art Dubai is a cultural phenomenon. This year’s edition features over 4,000 artworks from 65 countries and is expected to attract over 15,000 visitors. In a groundbreaking addition to this year’s event, World Art Dubai will introduce the WAD Tourism Art Tour. This curated guided tour will allow exhibitors to explore the art and cultural offerings of the UAE, redefining boundaries and captivating audiences from around the world.
Assistant Vice President at Exhibitions, Dubai World Trade Centre, Asma Al Sharif, expressed her excitement for the 10th edition of World Art Dubai and the new initiative: “With the launch of WAD Tourism Art Tour, we aim to provide our exhibitors and participants with an immersive journey through the rich tapestry of the UAE’s art and cultural offerings while spotlighting Dubai’s vibrant art scene on the global stage.”
Dr Saeed Mubarak Kharbash, CEO of the Arts and Literature Sector at Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, also emphasized the partnership’s role in advancing Dubai’s cultural and creative industries: “This collaboration underscores our shared commitment to making art more accessible to a wider audience and contribute to the realization of the emirate’s ambitious goals outlined in the Dubai Creative Economy Strategy.”
